Prysmian UK investing in People securing a bright future for HV Installations

09/12/2021 - 01:00 AM

As a part of our commitment to reinforcing and maintaining the pipeline of skill in cable jointing areas, we recently welcomed 8 motivated, trainee cable technicians to the company. After successfully passing trade tests they will join our existing team of over 30 HV and EHV cable jointers and Oil Technicians supporting Installation Projects and ENS services in the UK and delivering value to our customers.

The trainees are spending their initial year in the Jointing School at the Bishopstoke site where dedicated, full time instructors are guiding them through the cable jointing techniques through both practice and theory. This unique facility is at the core of HV Installation and is providing training for highly skilled HV Jointers.

During this time, they will cover the basics of the trade starting with an introduction to the Prysmian family of HV products and ending with a full installation of clickfit accessories. Trainees will be also introduced to the Prysmian culture where safety and quality is the primary focus.

With deployments to strategic projects throughout the UK as well as the High Voltage Laboratory in Bishopstoke they will be exposed to the unique and wonderful world of HV cable jointing.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity to be part of a company, with a passion for investment in a comprehensive quality training programme. There is a wealth of experience within the organisation, I have felt fully supported during every step of my tuition. We are given plenty of time to hone our skills, which ensures confidence for both trainee and customer that a smooth installation is guaranteed. This is a career with longevity due to a structured progression path and the constant advances within the sector." - Elliot Collis - Trainee Cable technician

In the near future, we will be excited to welcome another 4 trainee cable technicians focusing on Scotland, Stourport and other locations. They will be joining our exceptional team, who are striving to be the company of choice for our customers.

"In the race to achieve a net zero carbon emission in 2050, we all have a part to play. Join our team in this fantastic journey and together with our passion we will make the impossible happen!" - Raymond Petrus - Utilities Business Director
